COWEN, W.Va. A Webster County man is charged after he hit another man in the head with a baseball ball in a trailer that was to be left vacant.
On October 3, deputies at the Webster County Sheriff’s Department received a call referring to a person who was assaulted in Cowen, according to a criminal complaint.
Officers learned that Cowen’s Adam Cogar, 30, had hit a victim in the head with a baseball bat while he was at Rick’s Park in Cowen, officers said.
When officers spoke to the victim, they saw “a large cut, about 2 to 3 inches long on the forehead area with blood coming from the wound,” according to the complaint.
The victim stated that he had gone to the trailer park where he owns property and tried to enter one of the trailers that was to be empty; However, Cogar hit him with the bat when the victim entered the trailer, officers said.
When officers observed the scene, they saw “blood on the stairs of the property”, as well as more blood “down the hall”, according to the complaint.
Cogar is charged with malicious assault. He is being held in Central Regional Prison for $ 20,000.
