(New York) Just over a month after being hired as the new general manager of the New York Mets, Jared Porter was fired for sending sexually explicit texts to a reporter in 2016 while on the Chicago Cubs job.
ESPN reported late Monday night that Porter sent dozens of unanswered texts to the woman, including a picture of an erect penis. ESPN posted several of the messages and photos that Porter sent in his report online.
About nine hours later, Met’s new owner Steve Cohen Porter confirmed shooting on Twitter.
About 30 minutes later, the Mets issued a statement from President Sandy Alderson confirming the news.
His dismissal is immediate.
