Havana March 18 (RHC) – The pre-Olympic baseball championships in America run from May 31 to June 5 in Port St. Lucia and West Palm Beach, USA.
The tournament will bring together eight teams, divided into two groups: A (USA, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic) and B (Canada, Colombia, Cuba and Venezuela).
Cuba is measured against Venezuela on the first calendar day of 31 May at 1 pm local time. The duel between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic is scheduled for the same day and at the same time.
Later today, Nicaragua will meet the USA and Colombia will meet Canada at 19 local time.
When the matches in both groups are completed, the first two teams will advance to the Super Round, where each will play two matches. At this point, the teams report the results of the first phase to each other.
The winner goes on to the Olympics and joins already qualified South Korea, Japan, Israel and Mexico. The teams that become second and third in America meet in the last qualifying tournament June 16-20 in Taichung, Taipei, China.
