Nicholls Baseball is named Cody Livingston’s new pitching assistant – Crescent City Sports

THIBODAUX, La. On Wednesday afternoon, Nicholls State University’s baseball coach Mike Silva announced Cody Livingston as the second addition to the staff since he took over the program just under a month ago, and had Brandon, Miss. native as the Colonels’ new pitching coach, pending approval from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

“I am extremely honored to be part of the Nicholls family,” Livingston said. “I’m grateful to Mike Silva for trusting me to contribute to the success of such a historic program. I’m excited to come to Thibodaux and am eager to come after it with our boys.”

Prior to taking the assistant position at Red & Gray, Livingston served as assistant coach at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for two seasons from 2020-21, helping lead the Bulldogs to a post-season appearance last year. Through the 2021 campaign, Livingston trained a team selection in All-NJCAA Region 23, two first-team selections in the All-MACCC and three venerable All-MACCC reviews. During his two seasons with the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Livingston also guided 17 student athletes to placement on collegiate programs at the next level.

Prior to joining the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Livingston spent two years as an assistant at Arkansas-Little Rock from 2018-19, helping the Trojans with pitchers, offensives and outfielders. During their last season with the team, UALR won the most games since 2010 (29), good for third most in program history, when the Trojans managed to secure a second place in the Sun Belt Conference. The year before, Livingston 2018 helped the Little Rock squad to its first victory after the season since 2011.

While a member of the Trojan coaching staff, Livingston trained three first-team All-Sun Belt honors and helped six players advance their careers to professional level.

For four seasons from 2012-16, Livingston competed as a member of the Southern Mississippi baseball program, serving as a central part of two C-USA championships. In addition, he was also awarded the Colonel Fletcher Leadership Award after his senior campaign.

Livingston received both his Bachelor of Sport Management and Master of Science in Sport Management from the University of Southern Mississippi. He currently resides in Thibodaux, La.
