Man in critical condition after assault with baseball bat in Azusa – San Gabriel Valley Tribune

Two Azusa residents were arrested Thursday in connection with a baseball bat hit by a 47-year-old man who is hospitalized in critical condition, police reported.

Officers were called to the 900 block on North Sunset Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday to investigate an attack and found the badly injured victim, whose name was withheld, according to Azusa police lieutenant Robert Chivas.

Investigators identified two suspects at the scene who were arrested without incident, Chivas said.

Albert Chavez, 19, and Robert Bucher, 39, were booked on suspicion of attempted murder at the Azusa station, with bail set at $ 2 million for each suspect, according to police, who did not provide motive for the attack or suggest suspects knew the victim.
