Major league baseball teams that want 85% of their members vaccinated against COVID-19 will benefit from relief from health and safety measures.
It was the sports site The Athletic that broke the news on Monday after receiving a league memo that was also approved by the Circuit Players Association.
These special permits will be granted to Category 1 vaccinated staff, ie players, field staff and medical staff. They no longer need to have face covers on the bench or in the cabinet.
Gatherings between these people will also be allowed at the stadium. These will be tested less frequently. The quarantine will also no longer be necessary if a Category 1 employee comes into contact with a person who has tested positive for the virus, provided that they do not experience symptoms.
If the minimum vaccination is reached, the families of the players will also be able to travel with the team.
“Vaccination against COVID-19 is a crucial part of promoting and protecting the health and safety of players, employees and their families. “All players and staff are strongly encouraged to receive one of the approved COVID-19 vaccines whenever they can,” the memo said, according to The Athletic.
