ST. LOUIS (AP) – Mitch Keller knocked out six over five solid innings, Gregory Polanco ran in two races and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 on Friday night.

Pinch hitter Yoshi Tsutsugo hit his first homer with Pittsburgh in the ninth.

Keller (4-10) went one and worked around six hits to pick up his first win since May 29th. He had allowed 10 earned races over 14 1/3 laps in his three previous starts since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Three unloaders covered the last four laps to maintain the shutdown.

Rookie Lars Nootbaar had three singles to lead the St. Louis ’10s’ attack. Cardinals stranded 12.

“We had our chances,” said St. Louis manager Mike Shildt. “We had runners in the scoring position, and we had 12 at the base. They did well, and we failed to make money. We are disappointed. ”

St. Louis went into the day 3 1/2 games behind San Diego for the second NL wild-card spot.

Pittsburgh recorded just four hits, but snapped a five-player shit. The Pirates had lost 13 of 14 before the victory.

The Pirates broke through with two races in the fourth after Colin Moran led with a single by Miles Mikolas (0-1). Moran has hit safely in each of his last 15 games at Busch Stadium.
