WILMINGTON, NC (UNCW Sports) – Highlighted by 34 home games, including a three-game series with Dallas Baptist, UNCW baseball coach Randy Hood has announced the program schedule for the upcoming 2021 season.
“This schedule will be a great test for the program and one that I think our fans will enjoy,” Hood said. “We managed to take advantage of our location to play some strong programs in the region while also taking on some new faces.
“This was a tough plan to put together, and we expect some changes and adjustments. But we look forward to the challenges that are presented. ”
The Seahawks will play 12 games in a limited season with the Colonial Athletic Association. The conference has been divided into two divisions with the College of Charleston, Elon, James Madison and William & Mary joining the Seahawks in the South Division. UNCW hosts William & Mary (April 30 – May 2) and James Madison (May 7 – 9) and visits Charleston (March 26 – 28) and Elon (April 23 – 25).
Dallas Baptist visits Wilmington (April 16-18) for a series of three games between a pair of programs that have combined 19 NCAA regional appearances since 2003. The series is the front end of a home-and-home event with the Seahawks. on its way to Texas in 2022.
UNCW opens its second season under the auspices of Hood in February. 19 with the first of a four-game series with visitors VCU. The teams will play two February. 20 before we end the weekend with a single game in February. 21.
Other home series include Western Carolina, Appalachian State, Cincinnati and UNCG, as well as non-conference series featuring Charleston, William & Mary and Elon.
The Seahawks end the regular season with three games in Charlotte at the end of May.
Brooks Field will host the CAA Championship Tournament May 25-30.
Midweek competitions will continue to be a test for the Seahawks with games against East Carolina, North Carolina State, Coastal Carolina and North Carolina.
