KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) – Take a look at Thursday’s high school action on the diamond, and see the highlights in the clip above.
Sullivan South beats Sullivan North, 12-4
The Sullivan Co. schools are preparing for their final meetings between the schools, as the South traveled to the North for the last time and defeated the Raiders. A slim 5-4 lead ballooned after a pass in the 5th goal scored two to 7-4, and a homerun in the next half let it go. South is holding its senior day Friday night when North comes across town, for the final home baseball game in Sullivan South history. Nord still has one more planned for Tuesday.
David Crockett beats Dobyns-Bennett, 3-0
It was difficult to drive this rainy afternoon in Jonesborough, as this was pointless to the bottom of the 5th lap when the Lady Pioneers scored all three races in the frame, starting with a big hit from Alyssa Suits who traveled all the way to the wall on an RBI- double. Crockett remains without a conference loss in Big 7 action, and already locks the title of the regular season with 10-0 and 27-6 overall, bouncing back from a rare loss earlier this week at Elizabethton.
Science Hill strikes voluntarily, 10-9
A couple of 2-run homeruns at the bottom of the first half looked like Science Hill was planning to run away with this game, but Volunteer matched their firepower to make this a game. Bree Presnell had the first home run and Jayden Salts had the second, producing two 2-run shots with the first four balls of the game. Presnell threw a perfect game in his last game with the Lady Falcons, but had some problems in it, but the Lady Toppers kept on fighting with Daniel Boone right now for 2nd place in the Big 7.
