Reese Osterberg and her family are from Central Valley, where their home was destroyed in Creek Fire.
For little Reese, one of the most devastating parts of this loss was knowing that her beloved baseball card collection was no more.
A San Jose man stepped up shortly after, gave her his lifelong collection of 25,000 cards. What she did not expect was to meet one of these faces on the cards in real life.
On Friday, ABC7 told News Reese that we wanted to interview her about everything she’s been through since the fire – but really the real reason for the Zoom call was to introduce her to her favorite player, Giants catcher Buster Posey.
ABC7 Sports Director Larry Beil started the “interview” by asking her a question about the baseball cards, but before she could answer, Posey showed up!
He immediately asked, “Who is your favorite baseball player?”
Reese, who still understands reality, exclaimed, “You!”
At one point during the conversation, Reese opened a box that the giants sent to her.
Inside was a baseball signed by Buster Posey, to add to her growing collection of memories.
But Reese does not keep everything to herself, she pays the love ahead.
She has received as many baseball cards as this site was set up so that she can also share with other children.
