MIAMI (AP) – The Miami Marlins bought right-handed Louis Head from the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday for either a player to be named later or cash.

Head played 27 games for the Rays last season, two of them starting. He had 2-0 with an ERA of 2.31 in 35 innings, knocked out 32, allowed 21 hits and went nine. Opponents beat .175 against Head, who had not made any major appearances before 2021.

The 31-year-old was drafted in the 18th round of Cleveland in 2012.

The Marlins made room for Head on their 40-man roster by appointing outfielder Brian Miller for the job.
