Lawrenceville, GA – Centenary senior first baseman Preston Ludwick (Pflugerville, Texas) was named SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week on Monday for games played from Sunday, February 7 to Sunday, February 14.
Ludwick beat 0.429 overall in a couple of Centenary victories to open the season last week. The Gents defeated Louisiana College, 6-1, on Tuesday when Ludwick went 2-4 with an RBI and a race scored, and then in a 7-4 win over ETBU on Friday, he went 1-3 with three RBIs and a pair goes.
He delivered a clutch two-out single at the bottom of the seventh on Friday with the men clinging to a lead to help put the game away. In total, he went 3-7 on the plate with four RBIs, one race scored and a couple of rounds in the two victories.
Ludwick played in all 13 games last season, one of four men who did, in a season that was cut due to COVID-19. He ranked among the top three on the team in eight different statistical categories and ranked fourth on the team with a .407 base percentage. He hit .327, third on the team, with 17 hits on 52 bats and 10 RBI. He was also one of the top men for the men when he went 2-1 with a 4.20 ERA with two starts and made a total of four appearances. Ludwick, an All-SCAC selection, as a sophomore, was named Hitter of the Week for the first time in his career.
