SAINT-LOUIS-Paul Goldschmidt narrowed with two home runs and scored the winning point on Wednesday when the St. Louis Cards won a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Lars Nootbaar let him cross the plate with a single of 10.

Jon Lester from the Cardinals allowed one run and seven hits in five innings.
TJ McFarland (3-0) threw in 10th place. He has not yet run in August, in 18 two-thirds lap.
Tarik Skubal fell victim to Goldschmidt’s long balls, in the first and third. He struck 10 strokes in five innings.
The first home run of first base gave him a 900. RBI.
Matt Manning (3-5) starts for the Tigers against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday in Detroit.
The Cardinals play again Thursday in Pittsburgh. Miles Mikolas (1-0) meets Mitch Keller (4-10).
In addition, receiver Yadier Molina has accepted a contract of 10 million dollars for 2022, the season after which he intends to retire.
Molina makes her 18th season with the Cardinals, who selected him in the fourth round in 2000.
