A baseball referee in Quebec was recently intimidated by a minor coach.
Mathieu Marcoux was in charge of a Quebec junior / senior baseball league match when he was pushed around by an instructor he had just sent off at the very end of the match.
“It was a stomach-to-stomach contact to begin with. Then it was really pushing and pushing, “said Mathieu Marcoux in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
The judge claims to have been very disturbed by this incident.
“It is pure bullying. It’s very scary. I went back and simply left afterwards, Mathieu Marcoux explains.
The latter says that this incident is unfortunately not an easy case. According to him, this is the fourth such incident in the last two weeks.
Baseball Quebec assures us that this type of incident is unacceptable and is intended to address the issue.
“What we are going to ask the leagues is really put a lot of pressure on the pencil so that these stakeholders are packed, or that there are exemplary sanctions,” said TVA Nouvelles, Operations Director at Baseball Quebec, Robert Brousseau.
