LEWISTON – Genese starter Cameron Meyer struck out nine, settling in after the first half to clear Troy the rest of the way in a 12-2 victory Monday in a Whitepine League baseball game at Clearwater Park.
“He was able to find all three of his spots and kept Troy out of balance,” Bulldogs coach Kevin Maurer said of Meyer, who did not go a batter. “It was one of his best pitching performances of the year.”
Meyer’s confidence was strengthened by Genesee’s offense, which tightened a three-point second inning to respond to Troy’s two-run first.
Meyer had three singles and Jacob Krick a total of two hits, one double.
“Our hitters develop really good approaches on the plate,” said Maurer, whose team went 8-3 overall, 8-2 in WPL games. “They get really tough outs.”
The teams meet again at 5 pm today in Genesee.
