BOSTON – Someone familiar with the contract has revealed that the Boston Red Sox would have given left-handed pitcher Martin Pérez a one-year contract on Sunday.

The agreement was confirmed to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity, as it could not be announced until Pérez completed his physical tests.
Pérez would provide US $ 4.5 million next season, with a $ 6 million option or a $ 500,000 buyout clause for 2022.
Pérez was 3-5 with a well-deserved running average of 4.50 in the shortened season of 2020. He was the only Red Sox rotary starter to make each of his 12 scheduled starts. .
In his nine-year Major Baseball career, Pérez was 56-61 with an average of 4.71 earned.
