The Maritime College baseball team released its 2021 plan on Tuesday afternoon, with seven different opponents and a total of 28 games with a “home and home” double header against each opponent. The Privateers will travel to Mount Saint Mary in the season opener double header on March 13 before returning home for the first game on the brand new turf field on March 14. The opening weekend against Mount Saint Mary will not count in the conference record for both teams.
Privateers’ conference schedule begins March 19 when they travel to Yeshiva. Rounding out the 2021 schedule for Maritime are matchups against Mount Saint Vincent, Manhattanville, Purchase, St. Joseph’s Brooklyn and St. Joseph’s Long Island. The 28-slate follows a difficult end to the 2020 season where they only competed in seven games before the year was canceled due to COVID-19.
“I can not tell you how excited we are to get out on the field again after ending last season abruptly due to the COVID-19 virus,” said the head coach. Charlie barbieri. “For our first-year students, it will mean the opportunity to compete in the spring for the first time in almost 2 years. For our seniors, it will mean that we can go out on our own terms. To make it even sweeter, the boys will have the ability to practice. “Needless to say, there is a lot of excitement around our team right now, and we can not wait for the opening day against Mount St. Mary.”
Due to New York State health and safety guidelines, fans will not be allowed to participate in games at Maritime College, but you will be able to follow the games via live stream on our Facebook page gold YouTube channel. To see Privateer’s full schedule for 2021, Click here.
