St. Louis Cardinals receiver Yadier Molina was selected for the 10th time for this mid-season classic, as he is one of ten substitutes announced on Saturday.

A few hours later, he announced that he would not attend the event. He was eventually replaced by Milwaukee Brewer’s wide receiver Omar Narváez, who will make his first appearance.

Molina was voted in on a player vote, and he will make up for the loss of Posey, who was placed on the injury list on Friday.

After receiving a cracked anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against Marlins on Saturday, Braves fieldman Ronald Acuña will also be absent in the star game. Acuña, who will be replaced by third baseman Manny Machado, will undergo surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

Major Baseball has also announced that Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts is injured and should be skipped. Still, he played in nine sets Friday night.

Kansas City Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield and Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson were also voted out of the player poll. They will replace Astros players José Altuve and Carlos Correa.

This is Merrifield’s second selection, as Anderson, who was the American who beat the champion in 2019, will compete for the first time.

New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom has also chosen to rest in the second half of the season. DeGrom, which shows an earned average of 1.08, suffered some injuries during the first half of the campaign.

The commission’s office decided to select Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals, Walker Buehler of the Dodgers, Taijuan Walker, of the Mets, and Freddy Peralta of the Brewers, to join National’s pitching staff. Mets manager Luis Rojas and Brewers manager Craig Counsell said on Friday that their pitchers would be added.

This is Scherzer’s eighth choice for the All-Star game.

Major Baseball also added Dodger’s third baseman Justin Turner to the Nationals squad. Oakland Athletics pitcher Chris Bassitt and Tampa Bay Ray’s second baseman Joey Wendle have been added to the US list.

Astros outfielder Michael Brantley and San Diego Padres pitcher Yu Darvish lost due to injury.

Cleveland Indians musty Shane Bieber, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout and Nationals outfielder Kyle Schwarber had previously retired from their respective teams due to injury.

Giants pitcher Kevin Gausman and Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff are still active in the match, but have a scheduled start on Sunday with their team.

Astros reliever Ryan Pressly will be missed due to paternity leave.
