Legion baseball: Cubs count 46 races in a row | Sport

David Doicoa took part in eight strikes in Game 2, and Cameron Clovis put up four shots in Game 1 to help the Lewis-Clark Cubs to a double-headed dismantling of the St. Maries in Legion baseball Monday night. The score is now 23-1 and 23-0.

Capping a stretch where they played nine games in six days, the Cubs (8-13) relied on Doicoa and Clovis for full games, and they took advantage of a nine-man St. Maries list.

Trace Green went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a double and a triple in game 1, while Gavin Ells went 3-of-4 on the plate in the second game with three RBIs.

“I was really just proud of how the team has responded to adversity and kept getting better,” Cubs coach Kent Knigge said. “Pitching from Clovis and Doicoa was the most important thing. It was very nice to be able to reach into the gas tank and have a pair of healthy arms. … This team is much more mentally tough than it was a month ago. ”
