A junior BB baseball team playing in Quebec Major League Baseball (LBMQ) will take up residence in Saint-Pascal in the summer of 2021. This new formation will fill the gap between the dwarf and senior level in Kamouraska.

The project is led by Hugo Desjardins, Alexandre Laflamme, Éric Lemelin and Anthony Pelletier. It is also part of the City of Saint-Pascal’s desire to have a team of this caliber playing at Provigo Field, said Quartet spokesman Anthony Pelletier.

“It is a team that wants to ensure a form of storage of players at junior level in the region. At the moment, when the players are done with dwarfing, there are few who are really of caliber to play at senior level. A junior team will allow Kamouraska players who want to continue their development in this caliber before joining the ranks of a senior league, “he adds, even though he has already played junior in Rimouski in 2018-2019.

The team should therefore not “damage” the roster of Escaladeurs de La Pocatière, who play in the Senior Puribec League. The junior level brings together players between the ages of 17 and 23.

“Very few of our players can play in one or the other team, but we will still build our game plan in collaboration with them. This new team is good news for us and baseball in Kamouraska. We are complementary, ”said Eric Miville, president of Escaladeurs de La Pocatière.

Summer 2021

This new junior team will be the ninth to join the junior BB in LBMQ, where two teams from Lévis and one from Trois-Pistoles play especially. The other layers are spread over a territory that stretches from Saint-Georges-de-Beauce in the west to Rimouski in the east.

About twenty players from the region have already expressed their interest in joining the ranks of the future Pascalian formation, following approaches carried out in the autumn of 2020 through a Facebook page. The recruitment area will essentially include Kamouraska, and perhaps even the municipalities of Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies and Sainte-Louise, to indicate Anthony Pelletier.

The team would like to play its first matches in the summer of 2021. The team is also looking for sponsors, the spokesman confirms. It is expected that the main sponsor of the training will give the team the name.
