SAN DIEGO – Washington Nationals player Juan Soto will compete in the major league baseball home race at Coors Field on Monday.
Soto made the announcement on Instagram, before a game of him in San Diego.
The 22-year-old Dominican is on 10 homers this season, but beat 34 in 2019.
The Homerun competition will also include Joey Gallo (Rangers), Shohei Ohtani (Angels), Pete Alonso (Mets), Salvador Perez (Royals), Matt Olson (A’s), Trey Mancini (Orioles) and Trevor Story (Rockies).
Gallo also added his name to the hat on Wednesday. He has a total of 23 cycles in 2021.
Author of two home races on Wednesday, he has fired 10 cannon shots in his last 10 games.
Alonso won the last ‘derby’, in 2019.
