In an interview with USA Today, Sabathia expressed how much weight one can take off someone’s shoulders if they can openly talk about the mood. He reacted after football player Carl Nassib openly showed his homosexuality with the help of a video that was posted on Twitter early last week.
“I think the whole world is ready for this, that the world of sports is ready, especially today, in 2021. I’m a big fan of the Raiders [de Las Vegas], so I know Carl [Nassib] and I’m excited he can be himself. Being able to talk about these things helps. Like talking about my drinking problems can help people. It’s up to those involved to do it on their own terms, “said the former New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers shooter.
Nassib is the first player in NFL history to openly declare himself gay. Fans, his team and the league greeted his message with great gratitude. In addition, sales of the sweater rose just after special announcements on specialized websites.
