BLACKSBURG, go. Virginia Tech baseball is experiencing one of its best seasons this year. Currently ranked 17th in the country, the Hokies have won three consecutive ACC series and are at the top of the conference’s coastal division. “We have a lot of different contributions from a lot of different people … both hitters, pitchers, defenders,” said Virginia Tech Head Baseball Coach John Szefc. Any day on the diamond, another Hokie steps up in a big way for head coach John Szefc. “Overall, I think your guys have managed to perform at a pretty high level lately in games that are very important,” said Szefc. One year after college baseball ended due to the pandemic, Virginia Tech baseball is making a lot of noise in ACC. “In Virginia Tech it’s for sure. It helps when you win games. When you have success, players have fun, coaches have fun. What is it a by-product of? Talented players and I think a coaching team does a very good job prepare these guys for what they are going to face, “said Szefc.Hokies list got a boost from the extra year of qualification that nc-double-a gave athletes because of COVID. Technology injected with talent from boys whose careers had already been over. “We had a lot of benefit. Three of our better arms. Thomas, one of our regular players. It has helped us. It has helped many teams, I think, but it has certainly helped us,” said Szefc. Now Szefc hopes the Hokies can keep their foot on the gas as the mail season approaches. “You keep it rolling by trying to keep your guys healthy and continue to have a lot of structure in your preparation, their practice and their games. You just do not get away from what you’ve done,” What Tech has already done is put the rest of college baseball on notice.
