Green Bay travel baseball team ends the summer with a special game | WFRV Local 5

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) -School start is just around the corner, so parents who are part of the baseball team Green Bay Sluggers, wanted to give their children some last memories from the summer of 2021.

Coaches combined different age groups and then divided that group of children into two teams. The kids get to play at Capital Credit Union Park home to the Green Bay Booyah who compete in the Northwoods League, which is a collegiate summer baseball league.

“We thought it would be appropriate to let the kids come out and say goodbye to the summer and experience the big leagues for one night,” said Green Bay Sluggers coach Craig Stillman.

The players said they love to have another chance to play baseball with their friends this summer.

“You can have a good time, and if you make a mistake, they will pick you up,” said Green Bay Sluggers player Sam Stillman.

“You get to hang out with your friends on a better field than you usually play on,” said Green Bay Sluggers player Urijah Doering.

In a couple of years, the kids will probably not remember the score or how many hits they got in the game. But what they will remember is the time they spent with friends in a field that is a little more advanced than what they are used to playing.

This is the first time the Green Bay Sluggers have had an end to this year’s match at Capital Credit Union Park.
