Orzechowski went 5-for-8, 3 RBI, 2 runs, 2 doubles, homerun
RINDGE, New Hampshire (April 25, 2021) – Stonehill College baseball team (11-12, 6-10 NE10) fell twice more Northeast-10 conference enemy Franklin Pierce University (12-4, 9-3 NE10) Sunday afternoon with scores of 7-1 and 7-6.
The Stonehill College Baseball Team is ranked No. 3 in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) week three rankings.
Game 1: Stonehill 1 – Franklin Pierce 7
With one out on top of the other, Herrick put down the third baseline, and Ciulla-Hall drove him in with his first career double, putting Stonehill up, 1-0.
The bottom of the third was one of Franklin Pierce’s three-run innings, where they took the lead, 3-1, on three hits and one foul. The Ravens had runners on the first and second, and Ian Battipagl dropped a bundle of sacrifices that moved the runners around for the first race. Jonel Ozuna then reached a fieldman’s choice with the bases loaded, when Battipagl and Randy Flores crossed home.
Stonehill held Franklin Pierce to one race at the bottom of the fourth when Flores scored on a wild course, 4-1. The bottom of the fifth was the Ravens’ second three-run inning, with Dylan Jones kicking it off with a solo homerun to the left field and Graham Smith moving the runners on a sacrificial bundle, including scoring James Boria. Joel Lara then singled on a bundle and Jake Miller scored for the third inning of the inning. Stonehill saw one hit in each inning, except for the third, when Franklin Pierce took game 1, 7-1.

Stonehill went to work early when they set up two races at the top of the first, with Kiely leading the round with a single, and Orzechowski doubling down the left field line. Roberti backed out to third, brought Kiely home for the first race, and then Orzechowski later scored at a wild pitch, 2-0.
Franklin Pierce saw his first hit at the bottom of the frame, but they failed to set up races before the bottom of the second when the equalizer was 2-2. The Ravens scored on a wild pitch and a sacrificial fly that knotted the game.
The Skyhawks took the lead back at the top of the third with Orzechowski’s second career home pass which he sent over the left midfield, 3-2. Two laps later, Franklin Pierce put up two more runs for his second lead, 4-3, with Tyler Patane’s two-run single against the right field.
Stonehill were scoreless in three innings, before Orzechowski’s one out double down the left field line, and drove home Mike maher and Farragher, 5-4. Swanholm’s RBI single at the top of the eighth gave the Skyhawks their first two-run advantage, 6-4.
After pulling seven strokes, Franklin Pierce had one last chance at the bottom of the ninth, and with two outs and bases loaded, Battipagl singled to the right field and drove home Jose Savinon and Lara, and then Patane went off with an RBI- bane. -Rule single that puts Flores over the home, 7-6.

Stonehill hosts Saint Anselm College (10-11, 5-9 NE10) for their four-game series this weekend, Saturday 1 May and Sunday 2 May. Saturday’s games have the first pitch scheduled for 1pm and the Skyhawks will honor their three seniors before the game.
