A driver in his twenties was arrested by officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) for driving under the influence during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
The incident took place on Saint-Pierre Street, in the car park of the École secondaire de Rivière-du-Loup, near the baseball field.
Police arrived at the scene just after midnight after a witness saw the drunk person leave a bar on rue Lafontaine.
According to the spokesperson for SQ, Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, the driver would have run into the fence in high school to finally complete the race at the baseball stadium. He was alone on board and came out with minor injuries.
At the moment, it is impossible to know whether the blood level of the alcohol for the individual exceeded the permitted limit. A blood sample was taken. However, SQ confirms that the result may be known in a few weeks. The driver was still apprehended and taken to hospital.
