Havana April 5th. The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today congratulated the team in the province of Granma on the victory in the national baseball series in the Caribbean country.
“Granma is the Cuban champion in baseball! Congratulations to Alazanes and their manager Carlos Martí. Recognition also for the crocodiles of Matanzas “, the president wrote in his official Twitter account.
“In the midst of the challenges of # Covid19, we revived the emotions of our national sport. Thank you all, ”he added.
Team Granma became the Caribbean nation’s tenth three-time national league champion on Sunday, after completing its 4-2 victory over former monarch Cocodrilos de Matanzas.
The Alazanes joined this victory for those who won in 2017 and 2018, when they dominated Tigres de Ciego de Ávila (4-0) and Leñadores de Las Tunas (4-3), in that order.
The champion registered his name with Industriales (12 titles), Santiago de Cuba (eight), Vegueros (six), Villa Clara (five), Pinar del Río (four), Henequeneros (three), Azucareros (three), Havana (three) and Ciego de Ávila (three).
