Lawrenceville, Ga. – Centenary senior right fieldman Cody Crowder has been named SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Crowder (Shepherd, Texas) had a sensational weekend as he helped lead the men to a three-fight road of Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Crowder slo. 417 (5-12) in the three matches with eight RBI, seven points, two doubles, four rounds and four stolen bases. Crowder hits .368 on the season with a .517 percentage on base and slugs .647. He has two home runs, 19 RBIs, 25 runs scored and eight stolen bases. Crowder has now achieved the honor three times in his superb career.
He stayed warm Tuesday night in a 13-5 win over the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in Marshall, Texas, when No. 19 men (17-2) won their 11th– straight play. Crowder had a three-hit game that included his 54th career double, to set a Division III era (2012-now) program record and he also scored three races a night. The Gents, who moved up to No. 19 in the country in the D3baseball.com/NCBWA Week 5 poll on Tuesday, are supreme 26-6 in the last 32 games and have not lost a game since falling 8-5 at Huntingdon back feb. 28.
The gentlemen, who were ranked 25thth in the poll last week, has scored 13 or more races in four-straight games after doing so in all three games in a sweep of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games last weekend over Austin College. The men won 15-10 last Friday in the series opener and then swept a DH on Saturday in a convincing way and won 13-4 and 16-1 in seven rounds. Centenary resumes SCAC games at home this weekend as the men welcome Schreiner to Shehee Stadium for a three-game series and the start of a six-game home, as Dallas arrives in town on April 2 for a three-game series.
