The Buffets stumbled through the first week of March when they dropped one game to Cumberland University on Tuesday and two to Bluefield College this weekend.
The baseball team first traveled to Lebanon, TN to play a double header against Cumberland Phoenix at 2nd.
In Game 1, Braden Spano hit a home run before Cumberland scored six straight to take the first game 6-2.
Milligan came on the board in the first round of Game 2, thanks to a Chancery Hall RBI on a two-out single. Justin Greene and Richard Polinsky then homer in the third and fourth laps to hold a late Cumberland rally to split the double 5-4.
Buffs then traveled to Bluefield to play a set of three games.
On Friday night, Milligan captured the early lead as a result of several hits from Anthony Guzman and Chancery Hall. However, the lead was not built to last as Bluefield scored 10 runs the rest of the first game to take it 10-2.
In Saturday’s second game, Kirby Smith beat a three-run home run in the ninth round to lift the Buffs to a 10-8 victory. It followed an Anthony-Guzman RBI single, which triggered a five-run series to tie the game 7-7 after a 7-2 deficit.
In the last game of the weekend, Milligan came to an early lead again with Hall, Greene and Smith beating a single piece to put Buffs up 2-0. The Buffs lost it at the bottom of the sixth by producing three errors, which gave five runs for the Rams. The triple head closed with a 10-2 defeat against Bluefield.
Milligan are now 11-7 for the season and 3-3 in the conference. They travel again to Lebanon for a double header in Cumberland on Tuesday and host AAC enemy Kentucky Christian next weekend.
