DURHAM, NC – Duke baseball is set to begin its annual Fall World Series on Wednesday at Jack Coombs Field.
The five-game series starts on Wednesday, followed by several games on Friday, Saturday, Tuesday (November 10) and Wednesday (November 11). The first pitch for each competition is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Duke University protocols, fans will not be allowed inside the stadium.
The Fall World Series will end the Blue Devils’ fall slate in 2020, as they will move on to offseason training sessions at the end of the event.
Duke saw the unfortunate abrupt cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic after reaching the NCAA Super Regionals the year before. At the time of the cancellation, the Blue Devils had a record of 12-4 and were just starting ACC games.
Since then, the Blue Devils have seen three players join professional baseball ranks, including Bryce jarvis which was drafted 18th overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks in June. During the season, 14 players joined the Blue Devils for this upcoming season, including 10 rookies and four transfers Richard Brereton (Emory), Chris Davis (Princeton), Peter Matt (Penn), and Spencer widths (Middlebury).
