Baseball America Prospect Report – August 10, 2021

Austin allen, C, Triple-A Las Vegas (Athletics) – Few players in the smaller leagues have been as hot as Allen since the calendar went to August. The 27-year-old catcher went 4-for-5 with three home runs and five RBIs in the Triple-A Las Vegas ’14 -5 win over Salt Lake. Allen hit a two-run homer in the third round, a solo shot in the fifth and added a final two-run blast in the eighth. He is now 14-on-24 with five doubles and five home runs since August began.

Ryan rested, OF, Triple-A Albuquerque (Rockies) – Vilade struggled with the jump to Triple-A at the beginning of the year, but has started to take his step. Vilade hit .307 with a .804 OPS in July and now hit .389 in August after going 1 for 4 with home runs, three RBIs and two runs scored in Triple-A Albuquerque’s 11-6 victory over Oklahoma City. Traditionally a slow start, Vilade has shown the ability to make mid-season adjustments at every stage of his career, and will do so again this season.

Michael stefanic, 2B / SS, Triple-A Salt Lake (Angels) – The angels have called Reid declines, Jo adell, Brandon Marsh and Chris Rodriguez from Salt Lake since the month began. Stefanic strongly argues for joining his former Bees teammates in Anaheim. The undrafted free agent signed went 2-on-5 with home runs and three RBIs on Monday and now beats .334 / .405 / .487 with 87 games between Double-A and Triple-A. Stefanic still needs to work on his lateral agility defensively, but the bat alone is pushing him closer and closer to the majors.

Jose godoy, C, Triple-A Tacoma (Mariners) Godoy made history earlier this season when he became the 20,000th player to ever play in MLB. He returned to Triple-A Tacoma shortly after the feat and has recently been on a hot streak. He went 3 for 5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two races scored in Tacoma’s 9-3 victory over Reno. He is now 16 for 32 (.500) in his last seven games and has a hit of five in a row.
