The Toronto Blue Jays have reached an agreement with reliever AJ Cole on the terms of a minor league contract that will earn him $ 1 million if he manages to secure a place on the team.
This was reported by Bob Nightengale from “USA Today” on Friday.
The deal will also provide $ 200,000 in performance bonuses.
29-year-old Cole was one of manager Charlie Montoyo’s go-to boys last season in the bullpen. In 24 games and 23.1 innings, he threw three wins, one save, 20 strikes and a earned average of 3.09.
Cole also plays for the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and Washington Nationals, and has a well-deserved running average of 4.65 in 103 major baseball games.
