A look at the rest of Kentucky’s baseball field

Hey, BBN! Today we are going to take a look at Kentucky feral cats baseball team, which is on the ropes with only seven games left. Too many losses can knock them out of the NCAA tournament picture, while big series winning opportunities against Vanderbilt and South Carolina are also up.

Let’s break the fighting.

May 14, 15 and 16: South Carolina gamecocks

The ‘Cats get the Gamecocks at home, but this is not an easy opponent. South Carolina is ranked No. 25 right now, and it will take everything Kentucky has to win a series. It will be difficult to get into the tournament without one.

May 18: Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles

The last regular season home game at Kentucky Proud Park is easy, although of course it means that if they lose, it will be devastating for their tournament hopes. In addition, this is baseball, so distractions are far more common (distractions are rarest in football, then basketball, then baseball). Last time Kentucky played a mid-sized opponent, Eastern Kentucky, they had to gather from a large deficit to win the match. Hopefully they are ready and can send the seniors out with victory in the last regular season’s home game.

May 20, 21 and 22: @ Vanderbilt Commodores

These games will be rough. Vanderbilt is ranked number 2 in the country, and this series is on the go. Not an ideal way to end the season. On the other hand, if the ‘Cats get another win against the Commodores in this kill series, they can really increase their tournament hopes.

If the Cats get to play in the NCAA Tournament, they’ll probably need to win 3 or 4 of those games, preferably 4. The South Carolina series is certainly a big one, and even a win against Vandy will go a long way. Winner in SEC tournament would also help. We’ll see what happens.

Go ‘Cats!
