The Gary-Carter baseball stadium in Ahuntsic Park will be modernized at a cost of $ 10 million, and the new facilities will be delivered in just over a year.
According to the administration of the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, the capacity of the stands will reach 1000 seats, and the new synthetic surface will practically double the hours of use.
According to City, the stadium bearing the name of former Montreal Expos star Gary Carter can be used by the Montreal Orioles, the regional elite junior team, by the midget AAA team registered in sports studios, as well as by local teams from 4 to 22 years old. Several small league teams will even be able to use it at the same time. The field can also be used for free training with baseball.
Several baseball organizations hailed the investment on Thursday.
The project, which is part of the redevelopment of Ahuntsic Park, also aims to plant 40 trees around the stadium and add canopies to the nearby dog training area.
