(Toronto) The Toronto Blue Jays have offered a five-year contract extension to their CEO, Mark Shapiro.
The club’s owner, Rogers Communications, confirmed the news on social media on Wednesday.
Rogers chairman Edward Rogers said Shapiro’s leadership and commitment over the past five years have been key to increasing the team.
The Blue Jays used the expanded format to advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 last season.
The team set a 32-28 record to carve out a spot for the first round of the playoffs.
