Technical Tidbits 2/26: Tech baseball on the road to take NC State

Tea Georgia Tech yellow jackets The baseball team is on its way to North Carolina this weekend to take on Wolfpack. The first game will be today and starts at 15:00. There are three game series that extend into the weekend with games both Saturday and Sunday. As the article mentions, this series will open Yellow Jackets ACC games for the season. Good luck to them this in this weekend series.

This #ProJackets report from former yellow jackets now in the NBA has several familiar faces. Their names include Thaddeus Young, Derrick Favors, Josh Okogie and Iman Shumpert. Young has played particularly well too Chicago Bulls. I like the nickname he has been given: “Thadgic”. In some of the other news mentioned, it is unfortunate to hear that Shumpert was dropped from the Nets. In any case, he has had a pretty good run in the NBA. Honestly, I have not followed the NBA closely so late, so the favorite news was a little surprising to me as I had not understood Utah Jazz had it so good this season. First place in front Lakers? I did not expect that.

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets softball team. But the good thing is that all their games will be at home. A double header against Miami (Ohio) starts things off today. So on Saturday, the Yellow Jackets host the Kennesaw State Owls. Finally on Sunday it will be Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate as the team will host their in-state rivals from Athens. At 5-6 in total, the softball team looks set to return to .500 in total (or better). Good luck to them in this weekend’s four games.

This AJC piece about Ryan Johnson was an interesting read and provided some insight into the culture that Tech head coach Geoff Collins has helped bring to The Flats. It’s encouraging to hear a player talk about a program like Johnson does about Tech in this article. I’m not sure if the yellow jackets are ready to compete for the championship yet, but it seems that they are on the right track.
