Skyhawks are set to play 24-game NE10 division schedule, a total of 28 games scheduled to date, as the athletics department prepares to return from the COVID-19 pandemic
2021 Stonehill Baseball Schedfule (Subject to change)
EASTON, fair. (February 23, 2021) – Stonehill College associated with Northeast-10 conference, has announced the baseball plan for 2021 today. It marks the first in a series of spring announcements from the conference over the course of next week.
Stonehill plays a 24-hour division-based NE10 baseball schedule starting Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28, against Southern New Hampshire University at Lou Gorman ’53 Field. The teams are scheduled for double-headers every day, with a nine-and-seven innings on Saturday, and then seven and nine innings on Sunday. Stonehill’s 2021 season opens last weekend with a pair of non-conference double heads at rival Bentley University March 20-21.
All dates and times are subject to change according to weather and COVID-19 health and safety protocols. All teams will be subject to test protocols from NE10 COVID-19, in addition to health and safety guidelines from their institutions and communities. Safety and well-being for student athletes and the Stonehill community remains the main focus of College and NE10. In addition, Stonehill’s NE10 series at Saint Michael’s College on April 3-4 is expected to be adjusted for the Easter holidays.
Stonehill’s season opener at Bentley would mark the college’s first intercollegiate competition since March 13, 2020, when softball ended its spring break at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the baseball team last played the day before with a 9-2 win over Adelphi University in Boca Raton, Florida. March 12. Stonehill’s weekend series with SNHU, would be the baseball team’s first home games since a 4-2 rain-shortened victory over Saint Anselm College on 3 May 2019.
Stonehill is currently scheduled for 12 home games at Gorman Field, with the four-game weekend NE10 series against Southern New Hampshire (March 27-28), Assumption College (April 10-11) and Saint Anselm College (May 1-2). ). NE10 tournament dates and format have not yet been announced.
The attendance policy will be decided individually by NE10 institutions, but the schools will work to offer live streams of home baseball matches whenever possible on NE10 NOW – the digital home of NE10. Stonehill home games will be available through SkyhawksVision on NE10 NOW, and in addition to watching online, viewers will also be able to watch the action live on their TVs via Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku.
Stonehill posted an 8-5 record in 2020, before the season was cut to the COVID-19 pandemic, and won four of the last five games in the shortened season.
