Havana, June 1 (RHC) – The Cuban Baseball Federation has called the unacceptable provocations that took place on Monday during the pre-Olympic tournament in the America’s match between Cuba and Venezuela at West Palm Beach Stadium.
In a statement issued shortly after the match, the Cuban Baseball Federation stressed that these provocations run counter to the spirit of a sporting event.
An individual entered the field during the match, without the police reacting with the necessary agility, which “is a clear example of what should not happen if the local authorities act as planned. In security protocols”.
Others carried posters shouting insults at Cuban players.
These elements were warned well in advance, specifying the statement and confirming that not putting an end to this situation will help generate a destabilizing climate for athletes, coaches and other members of the Cuban delegation.
We emphasize that the US Government, as the host nation, and the Organizing Committee have a duty to ensure the safety of all who participate in this event, “the document states.
