The Expo return saga has not seen the final development. Montreal Baseball Group, which wants to build a stadium in Skrellbasseng, is now seeking public funding from the government of François Legault.
The investment firm Claridge, owned by the businessman Stephen bronfman, recently registered in the lobbyist register on behalf of the organization Groupe baseball Montréal to open a discussion with Quebec. The Montreal Baseball Group has been aiming for several years to build a sports complex in Peel Basin, with the ultimate goal of housing a baseball team.
According to the mandate given to two lobbyists on March 19, the Bronfman clan wants to meet with the prime minister, as well as the finance and finance ministers, to determine “the financial contribution to the holders of public office”.
“The amount of this financial contribution remains to be determined, as well as the sources of funding,” one adds.
The saga of the baseball stadium in the Pointe-Saint-Charles sector has been around for many years in Montreal. About a year ago, the Municipal Office of Public Consultation refused to give it its support and instead proposed a new consultation.
