NEW YORK – The minimum wage in Major League Baseball will rise to US $ 570,500 in 2021, an increase of $ 7,000.

Under the collective agreement between Major Baseball and the Players’ Association, the minimum wage was $ 535,000 in 2017, $ 545,000 in 2018 and $ 555,000 in 2019.

During the last two seasons of the five-year contract, the increase is calculated based on the increase in the consumer price index for urban and office workers from October to October.

Data for October 2020 were announced on November 12 by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The commission’s office confirmed the increase on Thursday, after consulting with the Players Association.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Major Baseball and the Players Association have accepted pro-ranked salaries for 2020. As a result, the minimum wage in Major Baseball dropped from $ 563,500 to $ 208,704.

The minimum wage in minor leagues for a player signing his first Major League contract will be raised from $ 46,000 to $ 46,600. For a new contract, or more, the minimum wage in minor leagues will increase from $ 91,800 to $ 93,000.
