Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has reportedly told clubs on the home tour that they need to prepare for spring camps and a season with 162 games.
This was said by the daily “USA Today” on Monday night.
Spring camps are scheduled to start on February 27, while the 2021 campaign is scheduled to begin on April 1.
Last week, the Major League Players Association made it clear that the athletes wanted the spring camps and the regular season to start according to plan. According to the collective agreement, the union must approve any delay in the timetable.
Remember that during the last season, a campaign shortened to 60 games, players received only 37% of the salary.
In addition, it is still not known which teams will allow the presence of fans during their matches in 2021.
