Lincoln’s Prachniak becomes Delaware’s baseball coach, recruiting coordinator


NEWARK, Del. Jad Prachniak, who was previously the outstanding player and team captain of Lincoln High and the University of Rhode Island Baseball Team, was named assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Delaware baseball program on Monday.

Prachniak, who graduated from LHS in 2000, had spent nine seasons as head coach of West Chester University, a Division II team in West Chester, Penn. head coach to win two national championships when the Rams won the D-II crown in 2012 and 2017.

“I am excited to join a program that has such a strong tradition,” Prachniak said in a press release. “The University of Delaware has a lot to offer and a bright future that makes it an attractive place to be. I’m grateful for the opportunity that Coach (Jim) Sherman and the University of Delaware Sports Department gave me, and I’m looking forward to the future of Blue Hen baseball. ”

Prachniak is joined by the athletic department of his wife, Kelly, who is the school’s assistant sports director for annual gifts and special projects.
