Komminsk reaches the milestone moment when Baseball’s G-MAC tournament race ends

MASON, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican baseball team saw its 2021 Great Midwest Tournament run comes to an end Thursday night fell to Kentucky Wesleyan in game 10 of the event, 11-4.

The Ohio Dominican admitted the first seven races of the game, and failed to recover, ending the tournament after three games played, going 28-11 overall.

Kentucky Wesleyan, the number 4 seed, improved to 2-1 in tournament action and will continue the journey in the comfort bracket on Friday.

MILESTONE MOMENT

  • Senior graduate Jace Komminsk (Westerville, Ohio) picked up two hits on four bats, which gave him 100 career hits.

  • Komminsk have one career-high 50 hits this spring.

  • For his career has senior on .296 batting average.

  • The Ohio Dominican was held to seven hits in the match, with Komminsk and Danison led by two each.

  • Danison tripled twice to midfield and ran in two races.

  • Sophomore David Silva (Tontogany, Ohio) also ran a couple of races, while he was a classmate Alex Brill (Amherst, Ohio) and first-year student Michael mcfadden (BrBrunswick, Ohio) collected a hit each.

  • New Year student Andrew Deyhle (Cincinnati, Ohio) highlighted a four-pitchers effort for ODU, and threw a pointless ninth inning.

  • KWC outhit ODU 15-7, with the four best batters in the Purple Panther series combined for eight hits.

  • KWC jumped out to an early lead with a run of two hits at the top of the first half.

  • Ky. Wesleyan finally scored the first seven races of the game.

  • ODU came on the scoreboard at the bottom of sixth with back to back triples from Brill and Danison with one out.

  • Silva followed with an infield single to score Danison, and cut the ODU deficit to 7-2 through six completions.

  • The Panthers were just capable of that scratch over two additional runs late, falls 11-4.

  • Danison’s second triple scored Komminsk, led by the eighth with base strokes to midfield.

  • ODU is now 28-11 overall.

  • Panthers is under consideration in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Regional poll.

  • ODU will find out if it qualified for the national tournament Sunday, May 23 with the selection show at 10 pm on ncaa.com.
