Baseball Sherbrooke has appointed Vincent Laroche as CEO, and he will be responsible for managing the establishment of one or two junior caliber teams in Sherbrooke.

Pro Gym de Sherbrooke existed from 2008 to 2016, before being replaced by the Sherbrooke Tomahawks, during the 2017-2018 seasons.

Former president of baseball Sherbrooke, Vincent Laroche, has in recent years helped to re-establish the dwarf AA, and it is with the same goal that we approached him, for junior.

“It is an important task. First, I launched a league survey on Baseball Sherbrooke’s Facebook page on Monday to see the interest of the players, but also of the coaches and volunteers. This type of project does not just happen. From the results, we will see how we adjust, whether it is for a club in AA or BB, “said Laroche.

“I also contacted the four potential leagues in each category who could welcome us, and everyone is optimistic and interested in having a team from Sherbrooke. That’s a good start. “

Young people’s renewed interest in baseball has not failed in Sherbrooke in recent years. In addition, Vincent Laroche may have a very interesting recruitment pool for his future team.

“I think the first year will be an AA or BB team, not both. But what reassures me is that the pool of potential players is there. Last year, Baseball Sherbrooke had two Midget A teams and one Midget AA team. And if we add the Drummondville and Victoriaville territories, which did not have an AA club last year, Eastern Townships adds almost entirely. We will then decide which league we will join, “said Mr. Laroche.

The latter also gives time to choose the head coach.

– A few have expressed interest, but we want to open a transparent process to fill the position. “

Players who are interested in joining the junior team must be between 19 and 22 years old, therefore born between 1999 and 2002.

“This return of junior baseball is a good sign for the development of baseball in Sherbrooke, it is good for the next generation. Slowly but surely, we push upwards. There are more and more registrations for baseball, so we are trying to drive this wave to give Sherbrooke a team of very good caliber, “said Vincent Laroche.
