Southwest dominate Brawley to stay at the top of the league

EL CENTRO, California, (KYMA, KECY) – The 2 best baseball teams in the Imperial Valley League finally came “face to face” in El Centro on Tuesday night.

Both the Brawley Wildcats and the Southwest Eagles entered their first season series meeting with undefeated 8-0 IVL records.

It was clear that the winner of this game would have the inside of a potential IVL title.

The Wildcats had previously defeated the Eagles in an early season tournament, but that game did not count as a league competition.

The Eagles quickly erased the memory in the second half with an RBI double to take the 1-0 lead.

Brawley would respond to the top of the 3rd with a separate RBI to tie it at 1-1.

Southwest would later regain the lead for good and keep Brawley out the rest of the way for the 2-1 victory.

Both teams get a new crack at each other on Thursday night at Brawley with the opening field at 19:00.
