(Arlington) Corey Kluber had the Major League Baseball’s sixth pointless hit in 2021 on Wednesday, scoring the feat in a 2-0 win over the New York Yankees over the Texas Rangers.
The two-time winner of Cy Young struck in a single end last year, and that was with Texas.
Clubs (4-2) struck out nine strokes and allowed only one walk (Charlie Culberson, in third).
The 35-year-old right-hander needed 101 shots.
Tyler Wade and DJ LeMahieu provided the points in the sixth with a triple and a sacrificial ball, respectively.
The last out of the game was a relay of LeMahieu’s second goal against the first pad, on the ground from Willie Calhoun.
This is the sixth game without a race or a hit in the major leagues this season.
The last one was on Tuesday – the Tigers’ Spencer Turnbull, at the expense of Seattle.
Two such matches in two days, it had not happened since 1969.
In 2020, Kluber tore a muscle in his shoulder the only time he left the campaign, in July. His season ended.
New York hired him at a cost of $ 11 million this year.
Clubs won American Cy Young twice with the Cleveland Indians, in 2014 and 2017.
