Omaha, Neb. – A trio of skewed frames (five races in the sixth, eight in the eighth and two in the ninth) lifted the Creighton Baseball team to a 15-2 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday, March 6th.
The win gave Creighton the series victory over their crosstown rival, while the Bluejays went 4-2 on the season. The loss dropped the Mavericks to 3-5 overall.
Bluejay appetizer Jonah Smith limited the Mavericks to one run of five hits in six innings to earn the win (1-1). The senior hirer hacked eight strike throws and issued only one free pass. Nebraska-Omaha’s starter Spencer Koelewyn took the loss (0-1), allowing three runs on four hits in 5.1 innings.
Creighton returns to the diamond on Sunday, March 7 at 1 pm while the Bluejays go to sweep the UN.
