Regional baseball is in mourning when Alain Dumas died at the age of 76 at Rimouski Regional Hospital after a long illness. Originally from Cabano, Dumas was one of the key figures in baseball both as a Braves player and as president of the Bas-Saint-Laurent Senior Baseball League from 2004 to 2011.
Since 2018, the Puribec Senior Baseball League has awarded a trophy to a player whose qualities are underestimated. In 2000, Mr. Dumas published the book Sans point ni couture by the publisher Plume d’oie about the history of baseball in Cabano.
Mr. Dumas’ involvement was not limited to ball sports. The latter was mayor of Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard from 1997 to 2005 and prefect of MRC de Rimouski-Neigette from 2002 to 2005.
