The highly run baseball team Bad Ax varsity boys served Vassar on Monday and won 18-6 and 15-0.
In Game 1, Hatchet’s Griffin Meinhold broke a 3-3 draw in the fifth inning with a sacrificial fly. The Bad Ax offense had 14 hits in total and flexed its muscle in the seventh inning and scored eight times to put the game out of reach. Vinny Blackstock, Keaton Braun, Micah Gordon, Austin Volmering, Bradley Howard and Nick Errer all raced in the lap. Meinhold took the victory on the mound to Bad Ax.
In Game 2, the Hatchets put 14 runs on the board in the first two innings before the game was named after three. Aaron Sowles, Errer and Gordon each ran their own race for the Hatchets. Blackstock allowed just one run and one hit over three innings to earn the win.
Brown City baseball celebrates Ubly
The Brown City varsity boys baseball team took two from the Ubly Bearcats.
In Game 1, Ubly fell behind early and could not come back in an 18-14 loss to Brown City on Monday. The Bearcats’ Logan Volmering had four hits, singlet in second, fourth, fifth and seventh.
The Ubly offense resulted in five races in the seventh lap, led by Andrew Becker, Mark Heilig and Aiden Mackowiak, who all ran races in the lap.
The Bearcats got 17 hits on the day. Volmering, Heilig, Mackowiak, Sweeney, Becker and Nolan Van Erp each collected several hits.
In Game 2, Brown City’s offense got off to a quick start, and the Bearcats could not recover from the 11-1 loss. Van Erp, Eric Grifka, Mark Heilig and Sweeney each had their hit.
