2021 Spring Preview: Blue Eye Baseball

By Chris Parker

Blue Eye baseball will look to improve a campaign with a win this fall in which the Bulldogs lose six games by two races or less.

Michael Crews will be the only senior on the list.

“Michael was our ace in the fall, and when he went on strike, he was effective. We will rely on his arm a lot this spring, said Blue Eye head coach Dustin Ewers.

Juniors Brandon Box, Daniel Jones, Dakota Powers, Lance Clark and Braedon Boyd will give Ewers five big men to look at leadership.

Ewers on Brandon Box: “Brandon will spend some time behind the plate for us as well as on the mound. Brandon will be trusted to be an anchor behind the record. ”

Reply to Daniel Jones: “Daniel will see the time of others for us as well as once in the field. Jones must continue to rise as leader for us in the infield. “

Response to Dakota Powers: Dakota spends most of his time in the left field and at the top of the lineup. Dakota has good speed and is a threat to steal when he is on. ”

Ewers on Lance Clark: “Lance Clark spends most of his time in midfield and will rely on anchoring the pitch for us. Lance has good speed and is a threat on the base trails. ”

Reply to Braedon Boyd: “Braedon is doing a good job defensively, and we expect him to make a breakthrough offensively for us this spring.”

Sophomores Logan Isbell and Landon Murrey along with freshmen Colton Spinning and Trey Lippe return from the fall team.

Reply to Logan Isbell: “Logan is solid defensively for us on shortstop. Isbell has good hands and has the opportunity to make great plays for us in the infield. Logan’s bats have improved since the first year, and we will look for continuous improvement. ”

Reply to Landon Murray: “Landon first spent time with us this fall. His ability at the plate will help us, and he will see once in the heart of the lineup. ”

Reply to Colton Spinning: Colton has a natural ability to infeidl and has the ability to play third base, shortstop and second base. Colton’s bats improved through the fall, and we expect it to continue into the spring. ”

Reply to Trey Lippe: “Trey played third base for us this fall and did a great job of getting in as a freshman. He has a natural ability on the plate, and we hope to see improvement from the autumn.

Sophomore Alex Labrier and novices Cayden Murray and Nickolas Fuller were identified as newcomers to watch.

“We will look at improving last autumn. Last fall we ended 1-9 with six games that were two or less. We will look to get over the hump this spring with the experiences we gained from the fall. We need to improve in all facets of the game. Our goal is to improve ourselves daily with hard work, and to take care of the little things, ”said Ewers.
